Should middle age stop you from being a raving reprobate?

From old skool to old c**t. Fanboy, MC, DJ, promoter, squatter, hedonist and dancer, Donald Jenkins has been addicted to the rave scene’s sweaty underbelly or over thirty years.

Through spoken word, dialogue and music, Jenkins questions his legitimacy as an aging 40 something.

Does he look like the inappropriate adult in a room of fresh-faced ravers?

Is it time to consider how this habit has affected him physically, mentally, and financially? Isn’t it time he grew up and gave it all up?

North East’s leading live poetry platform - Born Lippy creates engaging, interactive cabaret events that celebrate all things wordy: spoken word, comedy, hip-hop and slam poetry. For six years, Born Lippy has showcased the finest diverse national and local wordsmiths at multiple venues including Cobalt Studios, Northern Stage, Sage Gateshead, Alphabetti Theatre, poetry pop-ups in Leazes and Nunsmoor Park, live-stream/hybrid events throughout lockdown. They’ve curated stages on behalf of Lindisfarne, Words Weekender, Summer Streets, Little Lindi, START & Newcastle Poetry Festivals.

Run by poet/rapper: Donald Jenkins who has produced and hosted events for over 24 years. “I have performed at most of the major poetry nights across the country and Born Lippy stands out amongst the best in what the UK offers, talent on show was incredible and encouragement, participation from the audience was exceptional – it really demonstrates the community spirit of Born Lippy.” Argh Kid, Manchester poet.
